Quintin Reijndorp Smit

Director; Secretary

Quintin was born from Dutch blood in South Africa hereby instantly inheriting two passports and a nationality complex. A Dutchman who started living abroad speaking only Afrikaans. With his family he moved from South Africa to Ghana and to the Netherlands and continued to convince others of his background even though Afrikaans and Dutch were quickly replaced by English. As a child he always spoke of wanting to be a nature conservationist and just like children do, that is exactly what he didn’t do and instead he chose to study hospitality management at the Hotel School in The Hague.

After finishing his studies, he traveled back to Africa, Sierra Leone, to work in Hospitality and spent two years in the most remote areas of Africa. Due to a large Ebola outbreak he had to travel back to the Netherlands in 2014, but Africa never stopped calling him.

He has always had a big love for bush craft, wild camping, wild animals, outdoor sports and travels. Back in Africa he now found the perfect environment to fulfill his child’s dream, being a certified level 1 guide and sharing his knowledge and personal interests with as many people as possible.

Tessa Reijndorp Smit

Director

Tessa, born and raised in The Netherlands, a true Dutchie.

She inherited the ‘travel gene’ being brought up by her parents working for the Royal Dutch Airlines. From a young age they traveled a lot as a family and her parents showed her and her two younger brothers a lot of places in the world including Africa. Not only did she gain a lot of knowledge through all their travels, she also learned to adapt easily to all sorts of environments. During her studies and traineeship in South Africa she created a big love and interest for the African continent. She had a strong feeling to one day move back to Africa, because there is so much more to explore still.

Over the years in her professional career she gained most of her experience within Hospitality, HR and Project Management. Which now brings a broad pallet of skills to the table. Next to this she is a yoga enthusiast and decided in 2016 to become a certified yoga teacher specialized in Yoga Therapy. Her passion for nature combined with its positive effect on people’s health and her broad knowledge of Yoga and self-care created the dream to one day find a location to host her own wellness retreats. Kasabushi Camp is the ultimate location for realizing her dream and bringing this into practice.
